Recently we saw many business tycoons took over another businesses to make them the leading companies. Lets see the top 5 takeovers in recent months that can't go unnoticed -

  1. Reliance acquires controlling stake in Network18, set to pick up 78% stake in Network18 and 9% in TV18 for $680 million-> Network18 company includes several media entities HomeShop18, CNN-IBN, First Post(India), IBN 18 Broadcast Ltd., Web 18, Viacom 18 and many more. The board of RIL(Reliance Industries Ltd.) approved funding of up to $680 million to Independent Media Trust (IMT), of which RIL is the sole beneficiary, for acquisition of control in Network 18 and its subsidiaries.

  2. Microsoft acquisition over Nokia -> On 2 September 2013, Microsoft announced that it would acquire Nokia's mobile device business in a deal worth €3.79bn, along with another €1.65bn to license Nokia's portfolio of patents for 10 years; a deal totalling at over €5.4bn.

  3. Flipkart merges Myntra -> Flipkart buys Myntra for 300 million US dollar to take on Amazon.in who is extending its market in India in as online sellers for electronics and fashion. Flipkart started its business with electronics and its own brand Digiflip but as its market extended Flipkart brought a large range of variety of products. But now to get a more bigger market in the world of fashion, it has merged Myntra with it.

  4. Google buys Motorola and then sells it to Lenovo -> Google bought Motorola for 12.5B US dollar and sold it for 2.9B US dollar to Lenovo. When Google bought Motorola, it launched MotoG exclusively on Flipkart for customers to buy the first mobile phone from Google's Motorola. But on 29 January, 2014 Lenovo bought Motorola from Google in just 2.9B US Dollar. Google is happy with this deal and calls it a 'success'.   5. Facebook takeover Whats App -> On February 20, 2014 Facebook made it's largest acquisition by making a purchase to very popular mobile messaging service Whats App for 19 billion US dollar. Facebook was very happy to extend its social network on mobile phones.
